out of character
- be polite to each other. this shouldn't have to be a rule, but some people don't like to be polite. this is a problem.
- please avoid topics such as sexual orientation, religion, politics, race, and similarities. we trust that you're mature enough to do so, but we don't want to risk something getting out of hand. also, should information about an aforementioned topic be implied, please be respectful enough not to comment rudely. leave it be.
- images should not stretch the board. those that do will be removed ( the image code will be broken and left as a url, and you will be notified )
- swear, go ahead, just please don't swear at other people.
c-box
- please, please, please do not advertise in the c-box. we have a board for that, which is guest friendly. if you want to put a link to a site in your name, go ahead, just don't make obnoxious "OOH, CLICK MY NAME FOR MY BARBIE-DOLL-PINK-FLUFFY-KITTY SITE". if you want to tell someone to click your name for your deviantART or other similar account, go ahead.
- don't go crazy, try not to spam everyone out.
- don't impersonate anyone. fraud is illegal, folks. if we suspect someone of impersonating ( this includes having multiple personas in order to con someone into believing you are another person ) we will look into the matter and ban people accordingly. remember, folks, a little technology known as an isp. for those of you who don't know, google it.
- be nice! have fun! we're not out to get you :]
characters
- you may have as many characters as you see fit to keep active. although we'd suggest keeping it to a number under seven, there is no maximum. if this gets to be a problem, we may enforce a cap.
- characters can swear, be violent, whatever. however, we ban anything sexual, so don't even bother.
- posts should be at least 400 words. it's not a lot. if you have a problem posting 400 words, consult someone. we'll help give you ideas on how to make your posts longer.
- don't use obnoxious post colors, like neon flaming blind-your-eyes-yellow and puke green. please try to be tasteful in coding your characters' posts.
- character species do not inherently have powers. for example, a unicorn or pegasus is not born knowing how to control an element, heal itself, whatever. to obtain these abilities for your character, you must purchase them in the shop.
claiming
- if you have a deity, you may not have a king or queen. and vise versa. a different character may own land that is not in the category as your deity/king/queen.
- a player may only own ONE land per category.
challenging
- stallions and mares are equal on the battlefield, ergo a mare can challenge a stallion for land, etc.
- challenges can ONLY occur within the horse's alliance. a horse aligned to heaven cannot challenge for a land in inferno.
- a horse with a land cannot challenge for another land.
- higher positions can be challenged for, however if the queen of an alliance is challenged for, the king must approve ( vise versa if a queen is the head of the alliance )
- there is no site-specific battle rules, other than no power-playing and god-modding. battle rules are specified by the challenger and defender.
- battles are judged by staff members. royal battles will be judged by more than one staff member.
foaling
- there is no breeding process on alalume, nor is there any need to post that your characters bred.
- foaling takes place in summer and in winter
- there are only two requirements to foaling; a sire/dam and a thread between them. to foal, simply follow the form in the appropriate board and provide a link to the thread between them. a staff member will provide you with a foal.
- twins do happen on alalume, but do not request them. likewise, do not request any other specific trait. staff members will give out what they see fit. if you pester them, they may give you a stillborn, or worse, make one or more of the parents sterile. they have the power to do that. so be nice to them.
- a stallion can only breed to THREE mares a season, and a mare can only breed once.
- horses must be three years of age to breed. rapes and what-not are unrealistic for younger colts, and if a filly is raped, she won't produce a foal. so don't even post in the foaling ground.
death, the otherworld, and deities
- there are four "gods," or deities, on alalume. they are; deirko, the king of the deities; maloch; aiko and deva. that's it. if you don't get a god, please don't cry over it. try for a king or a queen.
- deities watch over the otherworld, or the place where equines go after they die. roleplaying a character past death is optional, though it tends to be pretty fun. the dead are limited to the otherworld and the stoneyard, and cannot be played anywhere else on the site.
- deities, however, are not limited to where they may travel. they are gods, after all, and may go and do whatever they please. while they usually do not scope out or affiliate with mortals, they may join a thread. behavior toward a deity may or may not be rewarded or punished, it depends on the deity itself. be warned, however, a more violent deity such as deva might be more likely to respond harshly than a calmer deity.
- a horse goes to the stoneyard to die. it doesn't have to be roleplayed out if you don't want it to be, a simple ooc post saying the character has died is enough to kill them off. a character is not officially considered "dead" until they are posted for in the stoneyard, so be aware of this before you try to roleplay them in the otherworld.
- there is no war in the otherworld. the spirits there are not tangible, and therefore cannot attack or harm one another, making fighting pointless.congratulations! you made it to the end! you have earned a cookie, a pat on the back, what have you! most importantly, you've earned your right to do as you please ( as long as it abides by the rules ) on alalume. have fun, guys <3
if you have questions, please feel free to contact a staff member!
